Hello Quantum World

From Fundamentals to Your First Real Circuit

About this Course

Quantum computing is poised to transform industries from finance to pharma, logistics to machine learning, and more. This year is on track to new breakthroughs and milestones. However, it can be a daunting subject to approach for those new to the topic.

This workshop, hosted by Q-CTRL, will give everyone a warm introduction and how to get started. You will learn what makes quantum computing unique, the state of the industry, and relevant near-term use cases and breakthroughs for quantum computers today. By the end of this workshop, you will achieve the following:

● First steps taken towards a Quantum Fundamentals certification in Q-CTRL’s Black Opal interactive edtech product
● Successfully executed a quantum algorithm on a real cloud-based quantum computer with Q-CTRL’s Fire Opal performance enhancement product
● Acquire a solid understanding of what’s possible with quantum computing and how to continue your quantum journey
● Ability to distinguish real progress from hype

Course Details

Duration: 2 hours
Level: Technical – Beginner
Bandwidth requirements: High speed internet connection

Course Prerequisites:

  • The workshop is open to all as an introduction to quantum computing requiring no prior knowledge or familiarity with coding. Come with informed curiosity about quantum computing.
  • Entry-level familiarity with Python or using our AI coding assistant – participants will just need to execute code provided in a pre-defined, web-based notebook.

Pre-Workshop Setup:

To participate in the hands-on components of this session, please complete the following steps before the workshop. This setup is essential for accessing the platforms we’ll be using during the workshop.

  • Bring a laptop
  • Sign up for a Q-CTRL account: https://accounts.q-ctrl.com/
  • Sign up for an IBM Quantum account: https://quantum.ibm.com/ –> Sign up for the current platform as the advertised upgraded platform is still in beta and can be buggy (see the screenshot)
