DEVSECOPS: EXPLORING SECURE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT LIFECYCLE

Wednesday, September 2nd, 10:55 am to 11:35 am

Hall B

SECURITY

While the goal of DevOps is to deliver applications and services in a more agile and automated way enable by closer collaboration between development and operations, DevSecOps aims to integrate security into the entire workflow. Unlike traditional waterfall methodology in which security teams are tasked with testing the code towards the end of the development cycle before production, DevSecOps calls for building security into the software development practices, tools, and IT culture in addition to securing applications in production. However, incorporating secure coding practices, and vulnerability assessment, management, and testing, throughout the development process poses many challenges. In this session, our expert panelists will discuss several aspects of DevSecOps, its adoption, associated issues, and key lessons learnt. Topics will include cultural changes needed for adoption of DevSecOps, security and governance in a fast-paced environment where changes in the software are made on a near-daily basis, challenges with evolving software development architecture, and integration of testing tools into the CI/CD pipeline.
