Sham Chotai is vice president of Research and Development (R&D) for HP’s Business Intelligence Solutions organization. He is responsible for R&D, technical innovation, product management and customer support.

Prior to joining HP, Sham was senior vice president of engineering at KANA Software and has over 20 years of experience in leading research and development organizations in business intelligence (BI) and related fields. Sham is a proven innovator with a track record of success who has worked at the forefront of many significant BI developments at companies such as Cognos and Red Brick Systems. As co-founder of DecisionView, Inc. he led the development of a patented service-oriented architecture platform linking performance management with predictive analytics for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. He owns several patents, including one on predictive analytics.

In addition to his technical expertise, Sham is a master at building and nurturing high performance, customer-centric organizations and managing highly disciplined development methodologies. He believes that people are the cornerstone of an organization’s success, and actively drives mentoring and development programs that support the professional development of his team.

Sham lives in San Francisco with his wife, daughter and twin sons.
