Welcome to the 20th Anniversary Edition of TiEcon! What you are going to experience over two days is volunteeerism at its best! For nineteen uninterrupted years, highly successful and motivated people havegenerously given their valuable time and expertise to make TiEcons happen.

They design the program, do the marketing, take care of our attendees, and treat them as their guests. The guests are either seeking success or are already successful. All of our speakers are extraordinarily successful and give their time to participate in TiEcon.

TiEcon always strives to be inspirational, relevant, and forward–looking. We believe that this special edition, TiEcon 2012, is the only conferencein the world to inspire, educate, prepare, and fund the entrepreneurs in the opportune areas like Social, Mobile, Cloud, Energy, and Life Sciences. And our expected audience of Entrepreneurs, Investors (Angels & Venture Capital), seasoned corporate executives, and professionals is the largest of any gathering which is solely focused on business building and wealth creation to enrich the community of customers, founders, executives, employees, and investors.
I request you to fully benefit from the fruits of the labor of over 250 volunteers and 150 speakers in producing the conference. I further urge you to get to know many of the 4,000 guests gathered over two days.

For the 20th year, hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers have converged upon the TiEoffice for the past four months, diligently working alongside the small and mighty TiE staff to produce the world’s largest conference for entrepreneurs. In fact,TiEcon2011 was so successful that Worth Magazine listed us in their Elite List as oneof the 10 Best Conferences for Ideas and Entrepreneurship, alongside TED and the World Economic Forum – not bad for a conference produced by a staff of 5 and a volunteer team of 300!

This is my fourth TiEcon, and each year I am humbled by the dedication and unwavering commitment of this staff and volunteer army.

Two decades ago, the internet was just emerging, there was no such thing as social media, cell phones were big, gawky, and used only for communication, and Google, Facebook, and Twitter, all but a dream. And TiE was born. For 20 years, TiE has been at the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Silicon Valley and globe. I am delighted this year to invite a new generation of entrepreneurs into our ecosystem with the launch of the TiE Youth Forum. The TiE Youth Forum will showcase new and seasoned entrepreneurs to expose our youthto the possibility of entrepreneurship as a career choice and move us forward in the next 20 years.
Whether it is part of our new program or part of our existing programs of the TiE Women’s Forum, MentorConnect, TiE50, InvestorConnect, or the TiEcon Innovation Expo, TiEcon2012 builds upon the cornerstone and strength of TiE’s mission of fostering entrepreneurship.

This same core belief was behind the formation of TiE twenty years ago. Today it has over 13,000 members across 14 countries and has helped facilitate billions of dollars in wealth creation and yet, has stayed true to its mission of fostering entrepreneurship.

We welcome you to the world’s largest conference for entrepreneurs - TiEcon 2012. As with previous years, TiEcon 2012 is packed with inspiring keynotes, informative sessions, breakthrough thinkers, TiE50, winner presentations, and infinite opportunities to network. After a highly successful launch last year, the Innovation EXPO, Mentor Connect andInvestor Connect programs have been expanded further this year. Finally, we are proud toannounce a new initiative this year, TiE Youth Forum, to inspire young entrepreneurs.What a coincidence, just as TiE is turning 20 and coming out of its teen years, we are launching a program for teen entrepreneurs!

TiEcon 2011 was ranked as one of the top 10 conferences in the world on ideas and entrepreneurship. It was your participation along with the tireless effort by a team of volunteers that made it possible. We are truly humbled to be leading a phenomenal team again this year. Without their passion and selfless dedication, this conference would not exist.
